Rasha Hilwi is a Palestinian writer, storyteller, journalist, editor, and DJ from the city of Akka (Acre). She holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Anthropology.

In 2026, her debut book “She remains a stranger” was publish in Arabic by Khan Al Janub publishing house in Berlin. and it will be publish in Dutch under the name “Ze blijft een vreemde” by Jurgen Mass in Amsterdam, translated by Djuke Poppinga.

Hilwi currently lives and works in Amsterdam, a city that embraced her as a mother. There, she rediscovered her love for the arts of storytelling and singing, both of which now hold a special place in her work and stage performances.

Together with her husband, Iranian - Dutch writer and storyteller, Sahand Sahebdivani, she co-created A Trail of Pomegranate Seeds, a storytelling performance about love, family, and displacement, which was presented in Berlin and in several sold-out shows in Amsterdam.

More recently, she co-created Not a House of Brick and Mortar, a literary and visual performance with Palestinian poet Asmaa’ Azaizeh that explores friendship as a form of home. The performance was presented in Brussels and Antwerp.

She is currently developing her first solo storytelling performance, Guidelines to Happy Motherhood, directed by Lebanese storyteller and director Raffi Feghali.

In the recent years, she has participated as a writer, storyteller, and speaker in numerous cultural events, festivals, and venues in the Netherlands, including Read My World, Brainwash Festival, Poetry International, Pakhuis de Zwijger, De Balie, Noordwoord, Perdu and Mezrab.

She also performed at Muziekgebouw as part of the Palestinian - Dutch artists' collective Um Al Ghaith, in collaboration with World Opera Lab, and joined Dutch journalistThomas Erdbrink as a storyteller during his 2025 event series Onze Man over de toekomst van het Midden-Oosten.

In the field of journalism, she worked as both a journalist and editor, beginning in radio before expanding into magazines, newspapers, and online media. For many years, she was the co-editor in chief of Raseef22 - an independent, progressive pan-Arab digital media network founded in 2013.

Since 2004, her writing has been published on numerous Arab literary and media platforms, with selected works translated into English and Dutch.

She has also worked extensively in the cultural sector in Palestine and abroad, coordinating and curating cultural and artistic events and programs.
